Festival Acc\u00e8s Asie is seeking a new Artistic Director<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reporting to the Board of Directors and working closely with the Managing Director, the Artistic Director will implement the Festival\u2019s mission of celebrating Asian arts and cultures. They will be responsible for developing the Festival\u2019s annual programming, including the May festival, the provincial touring program (Fleur de lys, Fleur de th\u00e9), outreach activities, and other related initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Main Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7\u00a0Determine the Festival\u2019s annual programming and special projects related to its mandate;
\u00b7\u00a0Promote and advance the Festival\u2019s artistic mission, orientations, and strategic objectives among artists, arts organizations, partners, and the public;
\u00b7\u00a0Determine and oversee the conditions required for the realization of artistic projects within the programming (venue, number of performances, target audience, etc.);
\u00b7\u00a0Develop and strengthen a network of strategic alliances with other Asian cultural and arts organizations across Canada;
\u00b7\u00a0Represent the Festival with the media, the artistic and cultural communities, and various partners;
\u00b7\u00a0Participate in the development and implementation of artistic and cultural outreach projects;
\u00b7\u00a0Collaborate with the Managing Director on the development and implementation of fundraising and financing activities;
\u00b7\u00a0Collaborate with the Managing Director in preparing government grant applications for various projects;
\u00b7\u00a0Develop and strengthen new private and public partnerships and strategic alliances at the local, regional, national, and international levels;
\u00b7\u00a0Develop and maintain professional relationships with funders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7\u00a0Ability to develop and articulate an artistic vision that is consistent with the Festival\u2019s mission and identity;

\u00b7\u00a0Bilingualism (French\/English), both spoken and written;

We value diverse professional backgrounds. A combination of relevant experience, skills, and knowledge may be considered equivalent to the qualifications sought. Previous professional experience as an Artistic Director is not required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7\u00a0Experience in programming, producing, or developing cultural and artistic projects, particularly within a festival, arts organization, programming committee, collective, or independent projects;
\u00b7\u00a0Experience evaluating artistic proposals, particularly as part of a programming committee, jury, or selection process;
\u00b7\u00a0Experience in financial planning and management, including private-sector fundraising;
\u00b7\u00a0Experience writing grant applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knowledge<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7\u00a0Understanding of the issues faced by organizations focused on equity, diversity, and inclusion;
\u00b7\u00a0Knowledge of Asian communities and the organizations and institutions that represent them;
\u00b7\u00a0Knowledge of the network of Asian heritage organizations across Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WORKING CONDITIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7\u00a0Status<\/strong>: Permanent, full-time position, 35 hours per week.
\u00b7\u00a0Start date<\/strong>: Fall 2026, exact date to be determined.
\u00b7\u00a0Salary<\/strong>: $50,000 to $54,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
\u00b7\u00a0Work arrangement<\/strong>: Hybrid, combining remote work and in-office work at 1200 de Bleury Street, in downtown Montr\u00e9al. Increased in-person presence is required during production and festival periods.
\u00b7\u00a0Flexible schedule<\/strong>: Generally 35 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend work during festival periods and certain events.
\u00b7\u00a0Work-life balance<\/strong>: Flexible work arrangements may be possible, subject to organizational needs and approval by the Board of Directors.
\u00b7\u00a0Vacation and holidays<\/strong>: 3 weeks of annual vacation, plus 2 weeks of office closure during the holiday season.
\u00b7\u00a0Sick leave<\/strong>: Unlimited sick days, subject to certain conditions.
\u00b7\u00a0Professional expenses<\/strong>: Reimbursement of expenses incurred as part of the position, in accordance with the organization\u2019s policies, including an allowance or reimbursement for professional use of a mobile phone.

About Festival Acc\u00e8s Asie<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 1995, Festival Acc\u00e8s Asie is a nonprofit, interdisciplinary, intercultural, and intergenerational arts organization and festival based in Tiohti\u00e1:ke-Mooniyang-Montr\u00e9al. Every year in May – the Asian Heritage Month in what is known as Canada – the Festival presents the work and artistic practices of artists from Asia and its diasporas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artists featured in the Festival\u2019s programming primarily come from East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, the Caucasus, and the Middle East. The programming includes a variety of cultural outreach activities and festive events, and encompasses a wide range of artistic practices, including performing arts, visual and media arts, literary arts, interdisciplinary arts, and culinary arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to its May activities, Festival Acc\u00e8s Asie organizes Fleur de lys, Fleur de th\u00e9<\/em>, which presents the work of Canadian-Asian artists in regions across Qu\u00e9bec during the summer, as well as various year-round activities featuring the work of Asian artists, in partnership with other presenters and festivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
