Biographies

Mosaïque

Mosaïque was founded by Jayanta Guha, Abdou Sy, and Philippe Thiandoum in 1993 in Chicoutimi-Saguenay, Quebec, to explore rhythms from various influences and illustrate that music transcends cultural diversity. Mosaïque is a large family, a mosaic of people from all over. Through its 26 years of existence, several musicians, by their passage, have left an indelible mark on the troupe enriching its repertoire. Through its association with Surojit Chatterjee, one of the greatest singers of Bengal, Mosaïque discovered the beauty of Bengal folk music. Khosrow Maghsoudi, a tar and kamancheh player and who has joined the group in recent years, has introduced the troupe to the flavors of Persian culture. Instruments such as cello, mandolin, berimbau, accordion, guitar, flute, didgeridoo, khamak, klong yao, pakhwaj, sabar, kalimba, and kirikiri all complete the colorful picture that is Mosaïque today.
