As a vocalist and interdisciplinary artist, his career has led him around the globe, notably with his solo show Anthropologies imaginaires which received awards at both Amsterdam Fringe Festival (2015) and the SummerWorks Performance Festival (2016). He is a PhD candidate at Concordia University in the ‘’Individualized Program’’ with Sandeep Bhagwati (Music), Noah Drew (Theatre), and David Howes (Anthropology).

Mili Hong

Mili Hong began playing drums at the age of sixteen. She spent most of her life in South Korea until her early twenties when she moved to Vancouver to study English and Music. At Capilano University, she received a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies, majoring in Instrumental Performance and played in various ensembles from small combos to big bands offering her numerous opportunities to explore different styles of drumming. In this period, she also studied with drum instructors Graham Boyle, Blaine Wikjord, Dave Robbins, and Dylan van der Schyff. While playing in Capilano University’s “A” Band under the direction of Juno award winning Brad Turner, she had the chance to play with notable guest artists such as Ian Froman, Mike Murley, and Randy Brecker. In addition to being an important member of Vancouver’s Jazz scene playing in the Leo Bae Trio and the Shapes, Mili is also involved in her alternative rock project, Moondle. Her lifetime goal is to continue learning about her art and herself through her ongoing study of music and language.

Rouzbeh Shadpey

Rouzbeh Shadpey is a sound and interdisciplinary artist based in Montreal. Navigating at the intersection of experimental, club, and academic forms of electronic music, their music under the identity Golpesar seeks to create a fluid sonic experience which erases aesthetic boundaries in favour of poetic narration. Recurrent themes appearing in the artist’s work are the exploration of queer Iranian identity, sonic affects, and non-linear narratives. In 2019, they released their debut album Khaneh on well-reputed label Dream Disk Lab as well as debuting their multichannel performance piece for post-human voices “This Voice, Suspended Between Us”. Having completed a doctorate in Medicine at University of Sherbooke and a BFA in Electroacoustic Music at Concordia University, Rouzbeh is interested in the capacity of art to poetically translate and critically reshape, with much needed dimensions of opacity, conceptual and theoretical material researched from a wide ranging field of studies such as neurosciences, philosophy, and aesthetics.
